Make Hummingbird Inn B&B your Romantic Getaway

Created for couples, our five guestrooms and private cabin have a rich blend of old and new interior with fine art, comfortable seating, luxurious linens and bath robes, all with private baths.  Each provides a sanctuary of romantic relaxation to reconnect and refresh. With three living areas, spacious dining room offering a 24/7 complimentary coffee & tea bar, over 2200 square feet of verandas including the front porch, a gazebo on Mill Creek, and more than an acre of gardens, there is space enough to be social or private as you wish. Please note the Hummingbird Inn is an adult property and does not accommodate pets.

You’re Invited to Relax in a Historic Setting

History buffs appreciate the authentically-restored architecture of the Inn, a circa 1853 Carpenter Gothic home with original rooms dating back to 1780. Steeped in railroad history, Goshen was a bustling passenger train depot in the 19th Century for tourists visiting our mineral springs. In 1935 daughter Pearl, whose Dad built the home, and her husband JB Wood (town’s RR Agent), hosted Eleanor Roosevelt on her trip to Goshen. Our 1875 barn, the old town livery stable, was built directly on Mill Creek and makes its vast presence among the Inn’s gardens. Experience the natural and cultural treasures of the Shenandoah Valley from a cozy home-base at the Hummingbird Inn. Once you do, you’ll see why our guests return again and again!

Exploring Like a Local

The big beautiful George Washington National Forest surrounds us. We are 4 doors from the Appalachian Waters Scenic Route 39 Byway and 5 minutes to Goshen Pass (Virginia’s oldest state managed natural area) with activities from nature walks to invigorating hikes, fishing, kayaking and swimming, all in a spectacular rocky mountain gorge. Scenic drives abound in all directions from the Hummingbird taking you to hiking, horseback riding, farm tours, wineries, breweries, antiquing and the cultural offerings of Lexington, Staunton, Clifton Forge, Warm Springs and Hot Springs, then come home to your private retreat or great place to be with family and friends.

Food Lovers – Breakfast & More

In addition to welcoming you to the Inn, sharing its history, the excitement of a passing train, and guiding you through the abundant nearby recreational opportunities, Innkeepers Sandra and Jeff lovingly prepare seasonal, farm-fresh local fare at the Inn’s complimentary two-course country breakfast served daily at 9am. Special diets are happily accommodated with advance notice. And, for “special order with advance notice” we offer brown bag lunches to go, dessert/appetizer plate, or a rustic elegant cheese & charcuterie board with wine and handmade chocolates, a nice dinner alternative. “We’re proud to mention our tap water is from a natural spring here in Goshen”
